April 2025 Board Meeting Briefing

The Rapoport Academy Public School Board held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 15. The agenda covered staff and student recognitions, project updates, financial approvals, and committee reports. The full meeting is available on our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/_qFxvDE0qBU
Recognitions & Celebrations:
  • Celebrated the quarterly Every Raven, Every Day awards.
  • Highlighted Elementary experiences at Triple Win and the upcoming District Art Night.
  • Recognized the achievements of the One Act Play, UIL Academics, and Middle School VASE competition.
  • Congratulated Coach Rice on his numerous Coach of the Year awards.
  • Commended Angi Cotton for her work with TIA and compliance, and Lauren Teague for her work with the Literacy Framework.
  • Celebrated the successful ESB Market Day.
Approvals:
  • Approved the consent agenda (minutes, financial reports, enrollment updates, IDEA MOE report, copier contract, Chromebook upgrades, Raven Court equipment, 3-year safety audit, camera purchases).
  • Approved the purchase of state championship rings for the basketball team after discussion.
  • Updated bank signatories.
  • Certified the instructional materials survey.
  • Approved instructional materials for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Approved the R-E-S budget as presented, including step raises (avg. 1.5% for teachers), a 1.5% raise for non-teacher staff, position adjustments, Raven Court activation costs, and inflationary adjustments. The board publicly stated that a significant majority of any new, unrestricted state revenue will be prioritized for staff salaries.
Reports & Discussions:
  • Nason provided an update on the Raven Court History Wall and addressed feedback from the Faculty/Staff report.
  • Committee reports were given on district data, budget review proposals, and the brick campaign.
    Updates were provided on Special Populations and SHAC activities, including the approval of the wellness plan.
  • Neumann gave an update on facilities and safety.
  • The board reviewed quarterly district attendance, behavior, and academic data.
  • ️A quarterly self-assessment was completed, noting positive improvements.
  • The meeting concluded with a closed session for the Superintendent evaluation.
